Parent Information Center
Welcome to Monroe Public Schools Community Education!
We're excited to have your family participating in our youth sports programs. This page is your go-to resource for important information, parent expectations, practice and game guidelines, and required forms.
Please review the following information before your child's program/season begins.
INTRAMURAL SPORTS - PARENT INFORMATION
FIRST PRACTICE YOU SHOULD RECEIVE:
- Team Picture Information
- Game T-Shirt
PRACTICES:
No parents or siblings will be allowed in the buildings during practices. No food/drinks will be allowed, other than water during games and practices.
GAMES:
No wandering, playing or bouncing balls in the hallways during games. There are no custodians working on the weekends. All drinks brought into the gym must have a lid on them. If you spill something, please clean it up. Please be courteous and show good sportsmanship. Our MPS Intramural leagues should be an enjoyable experience and fun for all who participate.
CANCELLATIONS:
Practices are automatically cancelled if there is no school that day. If school is cancelled on a Friday, games will still be played unless you are notified by the coach. Coaches will notify parents if a game must be cancelled due to inclement weather.
PARENT BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS
Parents are expected to read and acknowledge the following rules:
- Be positive role models in athletic contests.
- The team is the coach’s responsibility, not the parents. Do not undermine the coach in the stands, be supportive of the team, coaches, and officials.
- Do not coach from the sidelines.
- Communicate with the coach if there is an issue. If a parent conference is desired with the coach, please do not approach him or her at the conclusion of an athletic event. Contact them the next day and set up an appointment.
- This is a teaching league; it is not about winning or losing. The primary value of athletic participation is to provide our athletes an opportunity for self-development.
- Respect the judgment of the officials.
- Refrain from making negative comments about your child and other players, they are still learning.
- Make it fun, it is only a game.
I understand that if I conduct myself in a way that does not meet with these standards and behaviors, I will be asked to leave by those in charge of the event. This may include coaches, officials, Community Education Staff, or other Monroe Public School Employee.
